Our Story

How It All Started

Little Footprints began from a love for early childhood and a desire to create a space where young children could experience childhood as it should be – filled with play, connection, curiosity and plenty of time outdoors.

Founded by Kelly-Jaye Ferreira, a qualified Foundation Phase teacher with an Honours degree in Education Support, Little Footprints has been shaped by both local and international teaching experience and a deep appreciation for the way young children naturally learn.

What began as small-group sessions back in 2022 has gradually grown into the little preschool we are today, while holding onto the things that have always mattered most to us: meaningful relationships, a strong sense of community, thoughtful learning environments and allowing children the time and freedom to explore their world through play.

Little Footprints is intentionally personal. We value knowing each child and family well and creating an environment where children feel safe, known and confident to be themselves.

As our school continues to grow, our heart remains the same – to provide a joyful, nurturing childhood experience where children can wonder, discover, create and grow.

Why “Little Footprints”

The name Little Footprints came about during a personal quiet time with God. As I began taking the first steps towards starting play sessions for young children, I often wondered whether this little idea would ever become a reality. In those moments of doubt, God reminded me of how He had guided and carried me through uncertain times before.

The story Footprints in the Sand came to mind, and I knew I wanted this reminder to form part of the name – that I would need Jesus to carry me through every step of the way.

And because this journey was all about working with little ones, Little Footprints felt just right.
